Skroutz: Complimentary recycling service for old appliances

Mar 20, 2024

With every purchase of an electrical appliance from Skroutz, the company offers a complimentary recycling service for the old appliance in collaboration with Appliance Recycling SA.

Skroutz, the #1 Marketplace in Greece, extends a complimentary recycling service for old electrical appliances to customers who opt to purchase their new ones through Skroutz. This service is provided in partnership with Recycling Appliances S.A., the Collective Alternative Waste Management System for Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), an organization approved by the Hellenic Recycling Organization. Presently, the recycling service is accessible in the Athens and Patras areas.

Users interested in availing of this service can conveniently select the “Recycling” option during the final stage of their purchase, at no additional cost.

Upon placing the order, the partnering transportation company reaches out to the user, offering flexibility in scheduling the collection of the old appliance.

The recycling service covers a range of categories, including refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, televisions, washing machines, dishwashers, cookers, ovens, electric water heaters, dryers, extractors, vacuum cleaners, microwave ovens, and deep fryers.

It is noteworthy that consumers opting for this service have the choice to additionally purchase the uninstallation service for their old device at an extra cost.

This service is currently available in Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, and select cities in the province.

Michalis Avgoulis, Skroutz’s Marketplace Operational Excellence Senior Manager, stated, “The aim of our consumer’s old appliance recycling service is to ensure a seamless shopping experience for those choosing Skroutz for their appliance needs. Simultaneously, we offer the convenience of scheduling the uninstallation and collection of their old appliance at their preferred time. We are dedicated to ensuring that every solution or service we offer leaves a positive environmental impact for the benefit of us all.”

Marios Ingeler, CEO of Appliance Recycling Inc., commented, “To date, we have collected over 900,000 tonnes of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). Through this partnership, we aim to simplify the process of recycling old white appliances for people while enhancing the collection of WEEE in our country. Our shared objective is to ensure that no electrical appliance ends up in improper disposal sites or on the roadside, lacking appropriate environmental management and with uncertain outcomes.”
