The Marketplace Services Team is responsible for many critical moving parts of Skroutz's Marketplace; from buying options to payment methods and shipping services. In order to fulfill this mission, the team focuses on four pillars: Core Operations, Marketplace Offering Architecture, Payment Options, and Customer Care.

Typical examples of initiatives Marketplace Services has undertaken are the integration of a 3rd party provider (courier, installation service, etc), the offering of a new payment method to the user (eg. Cash on Delivery, Consumer Financing), the automation of a Customer Care process or optimisation on the buying options provided to the user in SKU and in the cart.

The Organic Growth & SEO is responsible for growing our user base and giving our users incentives to use our platform more frequently and efficiently.

The Content Engineer Team works on offering solutions, tools and automations for content creation and enrichment. A Content Engineer works closely with the Content Creation team that uses these tools on a daily basis. Apart from optimizing the Content Creation team’s work, Content Engineers also build the proper infrastructure, in order for the users to finally see the most updated, rich and valuable content around our product offering.

An iOS Engineer and an Android Engineer work in an agile cross-functional team with other mobile and web developers, API engineers, and UI/UX designers to develop and maintain our iOS and Android apps, while building new features and shaping our product. They develop and enrich the app with features available on the web and pave the way for an innovative mobile-first experience, harnessing device sensors when possible. Along with the cross-functional teams, there is also a small Core Mobile team that works on infrastructure and mobile platform tasks.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is a software engineering approach to IT operations. The SRE Team uses software as a tool to manage systems, solve problems, and automate operations tasks. They monitor and maintain our on-premise infrastructure and networks and support other teams for infrastructure and services-related issues or tasks. The SREs of Skroutz are responsible for the good operation of www.skroutz.gr regarding stability, reliability, performance and every tool needed to achieve those.

The IT Team is responsible for making sure that the services and platforms in the IT domain are running as expected.

An IT Support Administrator ensures that workstations, corporate network, and the rest of office equipment, such as printers and dashboards, are in perfect working order. Such tasks could include equipment replacement (laptop, monitor, printer etc), Operating Systems updates when intervention is needed, end-users technical support, planning an infrastructure maintenance task like network switches and WiFi access points firmware upgrades, or even planning to introduce a new feature or service to the rest of the company.

The Data Warehouse Team is responsible for finding ways to bring data from multiple sources into our unified Data Warehouse, in order to enable analysis and reporting. Also, it’s responsible for maintaining these pipelines both performance and quality-wise, while ensuring that our services (cloud and on-premises) work reliably. A Data Engineer acts as a bridge between technical and business teams when something needs data!

The Payments Team is responsible for providing a highly robust and secure infrastructure, handling thousands of payment transactions per day, while being compliant with specific European directives. Besides the payment transactions, the team is also responsible for the company’s money flow by transferring funds to merchants, performing refunds, etc. Finally, the team is in charge of the mechanism that automatically generates receipts and invoices. The volume of said documents is almost 20k per day.

The Skrouz Machine Learning Team is at the heart of innovation, leveraging AI to enhance user experience, search performance, and personalization. Our team focuses on developing state-of-the-art models for recommendations, ranking, and search optimization, ensuring that users find what they need quickly and effortlessly.

The User Research Team aims to understand in-depth the users’ behaviour. The team records users’ preferences (inside and outside Skroutz) and their points of concern. They take all gathered info into account to help other departments design or evolve Skroutz page products.

The Graphic Design Team is part of the Marketing department and is responsible for the visual identity of Skroutz. Graphic Designers ensure visual consistency, based on brand guidelines, throughout various mediums of communication with our end users. They design all branding elements and visuals for marketing materials (i.e. CRM, Social Media, 360^o campaigns, complex Landing Pages), and at the same time they operate as an horizontal service for the core product and create graphics, icons, illustrations, etc. On a daily basis, they have direct collaboration with the Copywriting Team and participate in the development of creative ideas.

The Category Management Team cares for the performance of each product category, both on the user side (conversions, sales, GMV), as well as on the merchant side (commissions, assortment). Category Managers monitor the user journey and user needs in each category, and detect any challenges or peculiarities that might require a special approach, distinct from the rest of Skroutz. They are the category experts. To be on top of the categories, they collect external information, such as market size, merchant profitability, and brands’ new releases, either from trustworthy public sources or by directly contacting the right people. They utilize this information to keep Skroutz’s value proposition up to date in terms of our offering to consumers.

The Merchandising Team discovers and promotes the best products in Skroutz. Merchandisers help the users select and buy products that fit their needs, by creating buying guides, shelves and banners, collection pages, best picks, and product feature videos. The team is responsible for ensuring that all the on-site placements of Skroutz feature seasonally relevant and acclaimed products.

The Core Customer Care Team is responsible for handling user inquiries and a diverse range of customer questions. The topics vary widely and can relate to order delays, issues upon delivery, returns or general Skroutz questions and are served via multiple channels, such as chat, phone, web form and email. The first tier of user support is outsourced to a BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) partner.

Another pillar that Customer Care handles is Support Events which include various back office tasks such as Return Requests that need to be reviewed and processed, or proactive alerts when something goes wrong with an order and a manual intervention is required. The objective of the team is to provide a Service that is based on 3 Es: Effortless, Exceptional and Efficient.

The Operations Team is responsible for the smooth management of the orders from Skroutz Marketplace. It is responsible for receiving parcels from partners and delivering them to users. It ensures the sorting and storage of parcels in the warehouses in Athens - Thessaloniki, as well as their assignment to our drivers-riders for delivery. Ensures the maintenance of the vehicles and the equipment of the drivers-riders, monitoring the routes and intervening when necessary to ensure their smooth completion.
